Oxidative Stress Induced by CuO Nanoparticles (CuO NPs) to Human Hepatocarcinoma (HepG2) Cells
The toxicity of CuO nanoparticles (CuO NPs) to human hepatocarcinoma (HepG2) cells was investigated in this study. CuO NPs (1 40 mg/L) had significant toxicity to HepG2 cells. The antioxidant N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) significantly reduces the cytotoxicity induced by the CuO NPs, supporting the hypothesis that oxidative stress contributes to the cytotoxicity of CuO NPs. To further explore the o...
متن کاملCopper Oxide Nanoparticles Induced Mitochondria Mediated Apoptosis in Human Hepatocarcinoma Cells
Copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) are heavily utilized in semiconductor devices, gas sensor, batteries, solar energy converter, microelectronics and heat transfer fluids. It has been reported that liver is one of the target organs for nanoparticles after they gain entry into the body through any of the possible routes. Recent studies have shown cytotoxic response of CuO NPs in liver cells. H...
متن کاملOxidative stress contributes to cobalt oxide nanoparticles-induced cytotoxicity and DNA damage in human hepatocarcinoma cells
BACKGROUND Cobalt oxide nanoparticles (Co(3)O(4)NPs) are increasingly recognized for their utility in biological applications, magnetic resonance imaging, and drug delivery. However, little is known about the toxicity of Co(3)O(4)NPs in human cells. METHODS We investigated the possible mechanisms of genotoxicity induced by Co(3)O(4)NPs in human hepatocarcinoma (HepG2) cells. Cell viability, r...
متن کاملPreparation of CuO nanoparticles by microwave irradiation
CuO nanoparticles with an average size of ca. 4 nm have been successfully prepared by microwave irradiation, using copper (II) acetate and sodium hydroxide as the starting materials and ethanol as the solvent. The CuO nanoparticles are characterized by using techniques such as X-ray powder diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, selected area electron diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spe...
متن کاملCuO and ZnO nanoparticles: phytotoxicity, metal speciation, and induction of oxidative stress in sand-grown wheat
Metal oxide nanoparticles (NPs) are reported to impact plant growth in hydroponic systems. This study describes the impact of commercial CuO (\50 nm) and ZnO (\100 nm) NPs on wheat (Triticum aestivum) grown in a solid matrix, sand. The NPs contained both metallic and non-metallic impurities to different extents. Dynamic light scattering and atomic force microscopy (AFM) assessments confirmed ag...
